Up to a third of the time of a pediatrician is spent looking after children with gastrointestinal and liver problems. Yet, there isn’t an India centric current textbook that can be used for reference. To fill this void, the Apollo Centre for Advanced Pediatrics has brought out a comprehensive textbook of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition. With chapters written by an array of national and international authors, it promises to be a useful guide. Day to day clinical case scenarios have been incorporated in certain chapters to make it relevant for clinical practice and post graduate teaching. Important topics including surgical aspects of gastroenterology and hepatology have been covered in a concise, point wise fashion along with vivid photos to aid learning. The textbook addresses a wide spectrum of issues ranging from simple techniques like preparation of oral rehydration solutions and their administration which has revolutionized the approach to diarrheal disease all over the world to advanced interventions which have proved to be life–saving such as pediatric liver transplantation.
