The book of Advances in Pediatrics is now five years since that edition. In the last five years, there has been a sea-change in the field of Pediatrics. There is now a greater involvement of the laboratory and investigative facilities in the management of children with various disorders. However, the role of the clinician cannot be undermined. A good clinician knows when to order and when not to order an investigation.
